Conference results

The International Scientific and Practical Conference “LIBWAY-2024: Science, Technology and Information in Libraries”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The Conference was organized by the State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPSTL SB RAS) together with the leading scientific educational institutions and public organizations. The event was held on March 18–20, 2024 at the Borvikha Hotel (Berdsk, Novosibirsk region). The Program Committee included the representatives of institutions and leading libraries of the Russian Academy of Sciences and foreign National Academies of Sciences.

The Conference included 2 plenaries, 6 sessions, 3 seminars, 2 round tables, an exhibition, presentations of scientific journals and databases. In total, 251 people from 24 countries took part in the Conference; 174 oral presentations were submitted. During the event, 2 cooperation agreements were signed between the SPSTL SB RAS and foreign partners.

The participants of “LIBWAY-2024” considered various aspects of library activities in a changing world: the main directions of open science research, the search for open scientific information, the creation of local history databases, portals and digital repositories, book digitization and work with electronic resources; a role of library in international dialogue.

The Conference included discussions related to library staff trainings, the ways of popular science information dissemination; promotion the regional policy in media environment; problems of book culture development; identification, preservation and research of book and documentary heritage.

Cooperation between libraries’ representatives, scientific, cultural and educational institutions has a long history and it continues to be active. The discussion held at the conference will undoubtedly contribute to the development of successful communication in the future.
